Going 'Home' in SoBe

Thursday, February 24, 2011

For those of you who have ever been to South Beach, you know that the majority of restaurants have the same vibe - that 'SoBe' vibe - full of flare, wide open, and with music that makes your temples vibrate...and oh, the people-watching.

But after seven days in South Beach for the Miami International Boat Show & Strictly Sail, all I wanted to do was go home. While my flight back to Chicago was still a day away, I was fortunate enough to discover a quiet spot that gave me the most divine comforts of mi casa - lobster, truffles, chianti...ok, well, a home in my dreams. Enter Casa Tua. Literal translation = 'home' in Italia.

Off the beaten path and surrounded by greenery, you'd never know this place existed. The entrance itself resembles a hatch from the Secret Garden, and once you enter, it's best to just let your senses take over - between the friendly staff who greet you at the front door of a quaint house, to the serene, candle-lit patio, and mouth-watering smells, I was most happy to call Casa Tua home for a night. And you should too if you venture to SoBe.

You can't go wrong with the menu. But I beg of you, the Farro Risotto with Fresh Maine Lobster is a MUST - a great plate to share before you move onto your Secondi Piatti. And if you're a truffle lover, they have black OR white truffle risotto. While this place is as cozy as your couch, every bite you take is pure decadence.

Note: Casa Tua is definitely for special occasions or if you're looking to impress. But hey, there's no place like home, right?!?

Call for reservations now...they're booked every night.
