Peanut Butter Banana Panini

Thursday, February 18, 2010

For those of you who have always wanted a panini press but haven't had a good reason to get one; well here is a fantastic reason!  The heat from the panini press melts the bananas and peanut butter together to make a creamy filling.  And although these pictures do not do it ANY justice, this sandwich is delicious!  It is perfect for every age and any time of day.  Pair this panini with a glass of cold milk and you will be perfectly satisfied.

Peanut Butter Banana Panini
Yields: 2 paninis

Ingredients
4 slices of whole wheat artisan bread
1/3 cup natural peanut butter (I prefer Smucker's)
1 tablespoon honey
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 large banana

Directions

Preheat panini press to medium/high heat.  Combine the peanut butter, honey and cinnamon in a bowl.  Spread the mixture on all four slices of bread.  Slice the banana and top two slices of bread with banana slices.  Place the two pieces of bread without bananas on top of the ones with bananas.  Place sandwiches on panani press, shut the top and push down slightly.  Let sandwiches cook for about ten minutes, keeping an eye on them to make sure they do not burn.
