These cookies will impress anyone, and they are so easy to make! Even people who are intimidated by baking can wow a crowd with these.
The original recipe called for cherries and pistachios rather than the combination of chocolate and walnuts that I used. The original recipe would be perfect for Christmas cookies, which will be here before you know it...scary.
You can use just about any combination you can think of for these cookies. And you can dip them in dark chocolate instead of white chocolate. I can think of so many yummy possibilities right now!!
I think these will become my go-to cookie when I'm crunched for time; with all the possible flavor combinations, these can work for any occasion!
** "We know it's tempting....but please do no eat raw cookie dough."
I think these directions on the sugar cookie package were made specifically for me!
Chocolate Chip & Walnut Sugar Cookies dipped in white chocolate
Source: adapted from Robin Miller
Yields 16-20 cookies
Ingredients
16 ounces of refrigerated sugar cookie dough
1/2 cup mini chocolate chips, semi-sweet
1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
1 (11-ounce) bag white chocolate chips (or baking square)
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line cookie sheets with parchment paper.
Combine sugar cookie dough, chocolate chips, and walnuts in a bowl. Thoroughly combine using hands.
Place tablespoon sized dough balls on line cookie sheets. Bake 7-11 minutes (or according to cookie dough package directions) or until slightly browned around the cookie edges.
Allow cookies to cool on a wire rack. While cookies are cooling, melt white chocolate chips in a double broiler or in the microwave.
I think I had half the batch while in Charleston - so yummy! I think I'm going to make the cranberry/pistachio for one of my holiday parties :)
