These peanut butter and chocolate bars are super easy to make and everyone raves about them!  They have been a favorite in our family for as long as I can remember.  Once you make these, I promise that they will become a favorite of yours too!

Source: my grandma's recipe

Ingredients:
5 cups puffed rice cereal
1 cup light corn syrup
1 cup sugar
1 cup creamy peanut butter

Topping:
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
2 Tablespoons creamy peanut butter

Directions:
Combine corn syrup and sugar in a sauce pan and bring to a boil on the stove.  As soon as it comes to a boil, remove from heat and stir in peanut butter (it is important to remove from the heat as soon as the sugar mixture starts to boil, otherwise it will become too hard).  Pour over 5 cups of puffed rice cereal and stir until cereal is well coated.  Pour into 9x13 inch pan and flatten mixture until smooth and level.  Melt chocolate chips and peanut butter in microwave-safe bowl at 30 second intervals, stirring in between, until melted.  Pour chocolate sauce evenly over peanut butter bars in the pan and smooth with a spatula.  Let bars harden for a couple of hours before cutting and serving.
