This past weekend we celebrated the future Mrs. Purcell with a Southern brunch! Its hard to believe the littlest sis is getting married. We had such a great afternoon with friends and family and the bride-to-be was showered with lots of love. Sarah, our family friend (Mrs. C!) and myself hosted the brunch -- serving up sweet tea and Southern fare for everyone to enjoy.
We went with the Southern brunch theme because brunch is Molly's favorite meal of the day. Molly also spent a year living in Charleston so she holds a special place in her heart for the South.
This a very picture heavy post but I've included the full menu at the end. I will be sharing all of the recipes in the coming days and weeks.
Appetizers included deviled eggs (somehow these went un-photographed)...
Smoky "Pimento" Cheese served on Zucchini Rounds
Spicy Boiled Shrimp with Buttermilk Avocado Sauce
and Pecan Pie Scones!
Love my utensil stamp! I purchased the stamp at PaperSource in Chicago years ago and used Avery Tags and jute ribbon (purchased at Container Store) to tie the silverware.
We provided plenty of time for guests to chat, enjoy appetizers and have a drink before serving brunch.
The spread included strawberry poppyseed chicken salad (this was a hit!) and fresh corn and tomato quiche (also unpictured but will definitely make again)
...and there was nothing left of this spinach salad with dried figs, crispy bacon, toasted walnuts, red onion and raspberry vinaigrette...
next up mixed berry salad with honey yogurt dip and granola for sprinkling
and the best vanilla-glazed blueberry scones ever
(these were also devoured and everyone requested the recipe => you can find it here!)
We opened gifts...
Took pictures with the MOB and enjoyed the beautiful day!
...and, of course, ended the afternoon with sweet treats!
Southern Peach Cobbler... served with fresh vanilla whip!
The mini mason jars were perfect after a big brunch and convenient for guests to take home.
The menu labels were printed on card stock. I almost didn't add the rosemary but so happy with how they turned out!
To keep with the Southern theme, we also served up little coconut "cakes", old-fashioned peanut butter sandwich cookies....
AND oatmeal cream pies.
Meet the beautiful sis and co-hostess, Sarah!
We sent guests home with a little favor -- homemade Southern Buttermilk Biscuits and Jam. I purchased the knives and wood fruit baskets on Etsy. The gingham napkins can be found at BHLDN.
It was such a great day -- thanks y'all! Can't wait for the big day on 10.19.2013!!
I just had to share the cutest hostess gifts that Molly put together...
Umbrellas (for shower -- get it?!?), gold polka-dot notebooks and beautiful candles. Too cute!
We used cake plates for all of the displays -- can never have enough!
